A Networking Day At Sea With Lodi UK

Urban Pest Control Directors Matt and Kelly were invited by one of our suppliers, Lodi UK, to join them on a networking event in the picturesque seaside town of Exmouth on the south-east coast of Devon.
The event itself was aboard the Southern Angler, a Charted traditional fishing vessel for a bespoke day on the water.
The Southern Angler is an old ferry boat under the care of Exe Fishing, offering fishing trips and scenery cruises. Their trips set sail from two locations – the marina or the seafront – and can board up to 40 guests for spectating or 25 people for one of their fishing trips. Their fishing trips are particularly popular for family days out and corporate events.

Sailors can choose either mackerel fishing, a great choice for their first time sea fishing, or reef fishing for the opportunity to catch a wider variety of fish. Whatever option you choose your rod, tackle and bait are included, as is the guidance and expertise of the skipper Adam and his team.
The evening cruises explore the hidden coves and secret smuggling tunnels along the Devon coastline, with live commentary from the skipper and the chance to spot the occasional dolphin. With toilets and refreshments on board, the welcoming nature of Adam and the relaxing sounds of the sea, this is an idyllic setting for any event.
Also in attendance were our friends Dean and Charles from Malum Southern Pest and Bird Control, based in Portsmouth. With our competitive spirts, the challenge to reel in the catch of the day had begun. However, Tony, Lodi’s sales and key accounts director, was crowned the winner after landing an impressive 25lb conger eel, earning himself the well-deserved title “The King of the Fish” among his teammates.

Although this networking event was filled with fun and adventure, there was still amble amounts of opportunity to meet other professionals and discuss the different aspects the pest control industry has to offer. The seaside charm of Exmouth made a lovely backdrop to the event.
